Parading Around the County

Come and join the PARADE!
2011 saw the addition
of Dwight's Model A to our parade unit, as we once again collected
bottles and cans at the end of the Algonquin Founders' Days parade:

In 2010, the
Environmental Defenders Recycling Unit took to the
streets around the county, marching in local parades.
As we came down the street in our bright green
T-shirts, collecting soft drink cans and bottles, we got cheers of approval from the crowds in Crystal
Lake, McHenry, and Algonquin!

First up was the July 5th, 2010, Crystal
Lake Independence Day Parade. It was a great time, and
we’re so glad that so many joined us.
This year, our theme is “Defenders Recycle!” We
appeared near the end of the parade, and our members collected
plastic bottles and aluminum cans as we walked the route. Falcon
Waste & Recycling Services provided one of their collection trucks to
walk the route with us.

Our second parade was on July 18 at McHenry's Fiesta
Days, followed by Algonquin's Founders Day on July 24.
DEFENDERS T-SHIRTS
Our color theme is green
(surprise!),
and we encourage everyone to proudly wear this color if possible. We have Defenders T-shirts available to our members
for $10 each. The shirts are a bright lime-green with black
printing, with our Defenders logo on the front and our slogan,
“Preserve, Protect, Educate” on the back. You can pick them up at
the office or at the parade
line-up. To reserve a shirt call the office at 815-338-0393.
Thanks for joining us – see you on parade! |
